Illinois prep star to play hoops at Penn

The recruiting projections indicate that Penn's basketball team will welcome a very good group of freshmen this season.

But second-year coach Glen Miller is already putting together another promising class for 2008.

During the summer, the Quakers received an oral commitment from Zack Rosen, a point guard from St. Benedict's (Newark, N.J.) who said he'd received scholarship offers from Rutgers, Iowa State, Seton Hall and George Washington.

Now Miller has been given another verbal, this time from Rob Belcore, a 6-5 wing player from Loyola Academy who, according to Chicagohoops.com, is considered one of the top prospects in Illinois. Supposedly he could have gone to Southern Illinois. Five of his teammates are also headed to Division I programs.

"I'll be dancing every year in March," Belcore told the Web site.

The Quakers, who have to replace a lot, have won the last three Ivy League titles.

Miller is also trying to land 6-10 Garvin Hunt, who's originally from the Bahamas and is going to prep school in Florida. *
