The business world holds its collective breath over decisions of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries. Keeping up with the group of 12 nations is a chore the Web does well.

OPEC news. Here, you'll find blog-style postings of reports about OPEC from newspapers and news sites around the world. When we looked, Arab News was asking, "Has the Long Farewell of the U.S. Dollar Begun?" And The Australian was reporting, "Oil slides in 'fear' of more supply."

OPEC home. OPEC members are scheduled to meet this week in Abu Dhabi. If you click on links for the event Webcast at this official OPEC home page, there is an option for posing questions that - if you are lucky - may be put to OPEC officials and oil-industry experts in interviews during the meeting. OPEC publishes a monthly oil-market report, and it, along with many other reports, is here.

Week in petroleum. The U.S. Energy Information Administration publishes a surprisingly chatty bulletin called "This Week in Petroleum." It is available from this Web site. Also on the page are the agency's regular reports on specific markets, including heating oil and propane, and a primer on how to understand the ups and downs of gasoline prices.

Not OPEC. Here is the EIA's fact sheet on non-OPEC countries, which, as is pointed out, produce as much as 60 percent of the world's oil supplies.

Diplomacy monitor. For those of us who need to see the source texts, the St. Thomas University School of Law keeps this running update of pronouncements from OPEC and energy-policy statements from governments such as those of Saudi Arabia, China, Venezuela, and even Estonia.

Many of the texts available at the above sites are not in English, so you may want to keep a handy link to the Babel Fish Translation page. Just copy and paste text into the window on the page, pick the language - and pray (it is not an exact science).
