Jamia, 13, has varied interests

Posted: January 28, 2008

Jamia, 13, has a brilliant smile that can light up a room and a great sense of humor, which is evident when she is telling jokes. A typical teenager, she loves to shop, especially for shoes and jewelry. Very style-conscious, she delights in coordinating her outfits and accessories. Although she seems quiet at first, she warms up quickly when meeting new people.

Jamia has many hobbies and interests. She enjoys basketball and went out for the middle-school team. She also likes track and hopes to participate in the activity when she reaches high school. She is enrolled in regular seventh-grade classes, and her favorite subject is science.

When Jamia is not involved in sports, she might be discussing hip-hop music with her friends, and she memorizes all the lyrics to her favorite songs. Other pastimes include dancing, going to plays, and participating in church activities.

Jamia has experienced many separations and losses. She looks forward to having a forever family. "We would talk and go places together," she says. Jamia would do well in a patient, loving, committed family that can provide the stability she needs.

She and other children are available for adoption by approved applicants. For a free information packet contact the National Adoption Center, 1500 Walnut St., Suite 701, Philadelphia 19102. Call 215-735-9988, or visit the Web site at www.adopt.org.
