Pennsylvania political leaders are expected to announce tomorrow that they have taken a huge step forward in bringing a pro soccer team to the region - arranging $45 million in funding to help build a stadium on the Chester waterfront.
The formal announcement is expected to be made at 2 p.m. in Chester at an event attended by Gov. Rendell and Senate Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi, according to people familiar with the project. The two key political leaders, Democrat and Republican, will join local and state politicians at the Wharf at Rivertown, a renovated office complex not far from where the stadium would be built.
