In a move that may suggest something larger to come, the Flyers acquired Patrick Thoresen off waivers yesterday from the Edmonton Oilers.
A 24-year-old left winger who has barely two years of NHL experience, Thoresen has played 17 games this season with two goals and one assist. He played 68 games in Edmonton last year as a rookie.
Is he the answer to stopping the Flyers' nine-game losing streak?
"Our guys like him," general manager Paul Holmgren said. "I think he can help us right now. We have a lot of injuries. I don't think he will lead us down that golden path, but he could give us a boost right now.
