Titans, Redskins unhappy with tie

Although Neshaminy and Central Bucks South are no longer in the same conference of the Suburban One League - thanks to realignment - their coaches wanted to continue playing because of the usually competitive nature of their games.

Yesterday, both teams left the field disappointed after battling to a 1-1 overtime tie at South.

The C.B. South Titans (9-2-1) said they missed a big opportunity to knock the Redskins (11-0-1), The Inquirer's top team, from the ranks of the unbeaten. The Redskins saw the tie as a blemish on their otherwise perfect record.

"It's a tie any way you look at it, but hopefully one we can learn from," said Neshaminy coach Lisa Pennington, unhappy with the way her team played in the first half when the Titans took a 1-0 lead.

Ally Bradley put the Continental Conference Titans up, 1-0, with a goal with 12 minutes, 29 seconds to play in the half.

Neshaminy, the five-time defending National Conference champion, tied it on a goal by Dyana Henry at the 22:15 mark of the second half.

"Everybody had a hand in that goal," said Henry, referring to the crowd around the goal cage when it went in. "I just got the last tap on it."

South coach Meg Hutchinson wasn't any happier about the tie than Pennington. "We just didn't adjust to Neshaminy's game," she said.
