Clout: Seriously, what about those vacation pics?

Mayor Nutter wants the proposed SugarHouse casino in Fishtown to move. Neil Bluhm, the project's majority shareholder, stopped by the mayor's office on Wednesday with a counteroffer: What if SugarHouse just redesigns the casino and stays on the 22-acre riverfront site of the former Jack Frost refinery?

Clout hears that Nutter was receptive to exploring that idea. He's been pushing hard to get SugarHouse and Foxwoods, another proposed riverfront casino, to move from South Philly.

A redesign could help SugarHouse fit in with the comprehensive plan to reinvigorate the waterfront that Nutter embraced in his first year in office.

Story continues below.

Greg Carlin, SugarHouse's CEO, yesterday confirmed the chat.

"We have discussed with the mayor the possibility of making some changes to the design of our facility to address the mayor's concerns," Carlin said.

Nutter, who was out of town yesterday, called to say that he had a cordial meeting but wants to see drawings of a proposed redesign.

"My position hasn't changed on relocation," Nutter said. Foxwoods is considering a move to The Gallery at 11th and Market streets. That potential relocation has many Chinatown residents worried. Nutter's staff will meet those residents on their turf Thursday to hear those concerns. *
