This week in Andy

October 10, 2008|by Ed Barkowitz

A weekly look at how the Eagles have fared under coach Andy Reid continues with Week 6, 1999:

The ridiculous road losing streak Andy Reid inherited when he arrived in Philadelphia came to an end as the Eagles held on to beat the Bears, 20-16, at Soldier Field.

Doug Pederson threw touchdown passes to Dietrich Jells and Luther Broughton and Troy Vincent and Damon Moore each intercepted Bears quarterback Cade McNown, who was making his first career start.

The win snapped an 0-17-1 road winless streak that dated back to 1996 with two of the losses coming under Reid.

Story continues below.

"You talk about a monkey being off your back?" linebacker William Thomas said. "This was a monkey."

Reid's Week 6 record: 3-3 (with three byes). Last year: Won at New York Jets, 16-9.
