Phantoms lose at Brideport

October 20, 2008

The Phantoms are unfortunately following the early season lead of their NHL brethren.

A 5-1 loss to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on the road yesterday dropped the Flyers' AHL affiliate to a 1-4 record.

A shorthanded goal by Nate Raduns 2 minutes, 37 seconds into the first period gave the Phantoms a quick 1-0 lead, but three Bridgeport goals later in the period sent the Sound Tigers off to their fourth win in six games.

Trevor Smith, Sean Bentivoglio and Jesse Joensuu all had a goal and an assist for Bridgeport, with Smith and Kurtis McLean scoring on power plays.

Bridgeport goalie Peter Mannino stopped 30 shots while Phantoms goalie Jean-Sebastien Aubin stopped only 17 of 22 shots.

The Phantoms' next four games are on the road, beginning at Hartford on Friday night, before returning to the Wachovia Spectrum to face Hershey on Nov. 7. *
