Culinary program for troubled youths moving to new home in Camden

Respond also recently began running a free after-school program, called Cooking With Teens, for boys and girls in Camden and surrounding towns. That program will expand when it moves to the new facility.

One day last week, five after-school students chopped basil, measured teaspoons of honey and "free-styled" garlic to create gnocchi with basil-butter sauce. Before the class, none had ever even heard of the potato dumplings.

Harris took pictures of the students' "beautiful" plates when they were finished. He poked fun and took some playful trash-talk in return.

And then, under a banner reading "Success Is Just a Recipe Away," he laughed - a big, booming laugh that could shake pans off the shelves.

"After we cook, we eat at the table and talk," said Eva Roman, 17, of Camden. "We talk about everything. It's a fun place to be."
