Phillies schedule tributes for Kalas

April 15, 2009

A memorial tribute for Harry Kalas will be held at Citizens Bank Park on Saturday, the Phillies and the Kalas family announced yesterday.

Fans will be able to pay their respects on a first-come, first-served basis from 8 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

The Phillies said they hope to accommodate as many fans as possible during that period.

At 12:45, all fans at the ballpark will be directed to seats for an on-field tribute that will begin at 1 p.m. The Phillies play San Diego that night at 7:05.

Additional information will be made public as details are finalized.

The funeral and burial will be private and held early next week.

Also, beginning with tonight's game in Washington, the Phillies will wear "HK" uniform patches for the rest of the season. The black, circular "HK" patch will be located on the front of the jerseys, near the heart.

The Phillies have a tribute planned for Kalas on Friday night before a 7:05 home game against San Diego, the team's first home game since Kalas' death. Fans are urged to arrive early. *
