Betty Raimondo, you can run, but you can't hide from the Daily News Home Run Payoff Contest.
On Aug. 5, 1988, Raimondo, then of Secane, Pa., won $2,500 when Mike Schmidt blasted the last of his record 50 Payoff home runs. (Back then, the jackpot grew each game that didn't yield a Payoff winner.)
About 8 years ago, Raimondo moved to Wildwood, N.J., but to this day continues clipping Payoff coupons and sending them in. Saturday, it paid off.
Jayson Werth, the Phillies' hottest Payoff performer, won Betty $1,000 when he launched the second of his two home runs, a shot leading off the sixth inning of a 10-0 win over the Blue Jays in Toronto. She is the 15th individual to won Payoff cash twice. No one has won thrice, although the husband and wife team of Nick and Peggy DeLuca have combined for three cash wins.
