Eagles questions ready to roll

Oh boy, oh boy. Training camp is nearly upon us. I bet you guys can hardly sleep at night.

Yesterday, the incomparable Bob Brookover reported that the Eagles aren't looking to sign another running back. Despite the fact that Brian Westbrook is on the mend, the Birds think they're set at the position for now. No Warrick Dunn. No Edgerrin James. No veteran insurance of any kind, or so they say.

Regardless of what the Birds say, should the Eagles sign a running back?

I think their intention, at the moment, is as Brookie reported it. That can change, however, in the next month. The Eagles want to see Westbrook go through camp and remain healthy. They want to see what can be expected from Leonard Weaver as a combination back. They want to see how ready LeSean McCoy is to contribute as a rookie, particularly as part of pass-protection schemes. They would really like to see Lorenzo Booker earn some playing time.

All of those things will have a say in whether they feel the need to go out and get more depth in the running game. Players will be available if they choose to go that way. But it could be that the results of camp and the exhibition season lead them to believe they have enough right now.

I'm with the Eagles. Why pick up some insurance when you have a world-beater like Lorenzo Booker? He's going to be awesome this year. Just ask him.

Eagles need to trade for Halladay.

I wonder if Halladay can catch the ball out of the backfield.

Jimmy, did you find your BlackBerry yet? And do you care to tell the readers how you lost it?

I have a new one, thanks to the efforts of Elmer and others. That's what I call Maureen - because she's the glue of the department. As far as telling the readers . . . don't kid yourself, we have none.
