Phillies LHP Cole Hamels (7-7, 4.69) vs. Mets RHP Mike Pelfrey (8-8, 4.75)

Mets update: The Mets activated former Phillies LHP Billy Wagner from the disabled list yesterday and released RHP Livan Hernandez. RHP Tim Redding will start in place of Hernandez tomorrow against LHP J.A. Happ ... Pelfrey, like Hamels, has had an inconsistent season, but he is coming off a strong outing against the Giants in which he allowed two runs on five hits, struck out five and walked one in 7 1/3 innings ... Pelfrey has faced the Phillies three times this season, winning two and getting a no-decision in allowing four runs in six innings of a 5-4 Phillies win on June 10.

Phillies update: Hamels' up-and-down season continued last week in a 4-3 loss to the Braves in which he picked up a no-decision. He allowed just two runs on three hits in six innings, but walked four, struck out two and allowed a home run for the seventh time in the last eight ... Hamels has struck out eight and walked eight over his last three starts ... Hamels' last victory came on July 28 against Arizona, also the last time he pitched more than six innings in a game.
