Phillies update: RF Jayson Werth was named NL player of the week for the period ending Sunday. Werth was 11-for-25 with five HRs and nine RBI for the Phillies, who won five of six games ... Blanton is 4-2 with a 2.01 ERA in his last eight starts. In four nonwins in that span, he has lasted at least 6 2/3 innings in each start and has a 2.28 ERA ... C Carlos Ruiz is 7-for-22 with three HRs in his last seven games.

Pirates update: Ohlendorf hasn't allowed more than three earned runs in his last seven starts (4-1, 3.00) ... SS Ronny Cedeno missed Sunday's game against the Reds with a hairline fracture to his right pinkie, suffered Friday while fielding a ground ball. Doctors cleared him to play when he thinks he can be effective ... The Pirates, who lost 12 of 13 beginning Aug. 2, had won five straight before the Reds beat them on Sunday.
