Giants update: All 24 of Penny's starts this season came as a member of the Boston Red Sox, who released him last week ... The Phillies last faced Penny on Aug. 13, 2008, when he was with the Dodgers. He gave up six runs in three innings in a game the Phillies won, 7-6. He was not on the Dodgers' postseason roster ... Righties are hitting .321 off Penny this season, lefties are hitting .277 ... Penny last pitched on Aug. 21, allowing eight runs on 10 hits in four innings against the Yankees.

Phillies update: Happ has already thrown a career-high 143 2/3 innings after throwing 31 2/3 with the Phillies last season ...
