Phillies LHP Cliff Lee (12-11, 3.06) vs. Nationals RHP Garrett Mock (3-7, 5.63)

Phillies update: After going 5-0 while allowing three earned runs in 40 innings in his first five starts as a Phillie, Cliff Lee has allowed 12 earned runs in eight innings in his last two starts, both of them losses . . . Against Houston over the weekend, Lee allowed six runs on nine hits in just three innings, his shortest appearance since he allowed seven runs in three innings for the Indians against the White Sox on June 30 . . . Lee has attributed his struggles to command, although he was hurt by several weak hits in his last start . . . That marked the first time since his first two starts of the season that Lee failed to complete at least six innings in back-to-back starts.

Nationals update: Garrett Mock, 26, will be facing the Phillies for the first time since he moved into the rotation in late July. He has faced the Phillies four times in relief, holding them scoreless in two and allowing five runs in the other two . . .Mock is coming off his roughest outing of the season, when he allowed six runs in just three innings of a 9-6 loss to the Marlins . . . Before the loss to the Marlins, Mock was 3-4 with a 4.47 ERA in nine starts . . . Adam Dunn and Ryan Zimmerman entered last night having combined for 63 home runs, fifth-most among any duo in the majors. Ryan Howard and Jayson Werth lead the majors with a combined 70 home runs.
