'Desperate Housewives' actor here for breast-cancer event
Ricardo Antonio Chavira, who plays Carlos Solis on "Desperate Housewives," will be at the Rittenhouse Monday morning for a breast-cancer event sponsored by the Wellness Community. Chavira lost his mother, Elizabeth, to breast cancer and two sisters, Raquel and Rebekah, have fought the disease. His family's struggle led to his partnering with the Wellness Community to launch the CARE (Cancer Advocate Resources and Education) campaign for breast-cancer caregivers.
He'll be joined at Monday's event by Wellness Community's chief executive, Kim Thiboldeaux; clinical psychologist and author Barry Jacobs, and Paul Ricciardi, a local breast-cancer caregiver.
Starting Monday, 93.3 WMMR is re-branding Matt Cord's weeknight show as The Pit. Cord will still host, but during Sixers season, when he works as PA announcer, Brent Porche and Jacky Bam Bam will fill in. The Pit will have 52-minutes straight per hour of music, and will play newer rock from the '90s on.

The former Phillies catcher, a huge Frank Sinatra fan, will be on from 11 to noon. McCarver told Mark that he used to listen to the show with Larry Bowa in the Phillies clubhouse before their games.
