3 keys to Game 5
1. Cole Hamels can't be predictable
In Game 1, Hamels seemed to lose composure after his defense let him down. When he loses composure, he gets stubborn, and when he gets stubborn, he gets predictable. This time, it was three straight changeups and a Manny Ramirez homer in the third. Hamels is too good for that.
2. It went largely unnoticed, but Chan Ho Park, Scott Eyre, Ryan Madson and Brad Lidge locked the Dodgers down for three innings in Game 4.
Given their composite struggles, those bullpen components are the real heroes. Throw in a Chad Durbin outing tonight, and Hamels might only need to face the Dodgers' lineup twice.
3. Continue to mitigate Manny and Fook
Leadoff hitter Rafael "Fook" Furcal is 2-for-16 with one walk, cleanup hitter Manny Ramirez a relatively toothless 4-for-16. Dodgers manager Joe Torre said he's going to keep his regulars playing. Given the damage Ramirez and Furcal can do, keeping them off the bases (or in the park) must remain the Phillies' chief concern.
