Temple's basketball program has received an oral commitment for its 2010 recruiting class from Aaron Brown, a 6-4 senior wing guard from St. Benedict's Prep in Newark, N.J.

Last season, he averaged a little more than 12 points and seven rebounds for a team loaded with big-time prospects, while shooting more than 40 percent from three-point range.

"We kind of felt like he was a Big East player," Gray Bees coach Dan Hurley said. "I think [Temple coach] Fran Dunphy got a steal . . .

"It's a great fit. He had a bunch of [interest from Ivy League programs], because he's a strong student. [And] he's had [high-major] interest as a backup recruit. But I think Temple is the school that he was comfortable with signing early."

Other BCS schools that had shown interest in him were Seton Hall, Providence, Auburn and Virginia Tech. Several recruiting sources have described him as being athletic, explosive and physical.
