The play: Before Yankees starter A.J. Burnett had recorded an out, Chase Utley let the Yankees know that the defending champions would not go down easily, drilling a home run into rightfield.
The setup: After the Yankees got to Cliff Lee for a first-inning run, the Phillies needed to answer and quickly. Jimmy Rollins singled and Shane Victorino was hit by a pitch.
The at-bat: Utley, who had only two first-pitch home runs during the regular season, turned on Burnett's 94-mph fastball ... and the hyperbolic arc lifted the spirits of the entire city as it settled into the rightfield seats.
