No movement in top seven BCS spots

The first seven spots in the second-to-last Bowl Championship Series standings remained unchanged. Which meant the biggest (or only) news was Oregon going from 11th to eighth after the former No. 8, Louisiana State, lost at Mississippi. The Tigers fell to 15th.

Alabama, which is second behind Florida, is third in both the Harris Interactive (media) and USA Today (coaches) polls. But the Crimson Tide is first in computer average.

Alabama and Florida will play each other in the SEC title game on Dec. 5. First Alabama must play Auburn on the road on Friday, and Florida will host Florida State on Saturday.

Texas, at No. 3, visits Texas A & M on Thursday before getting Nebraska in the Big 12 final.

Texas Christian, at No. 4, needs help. Ditto No. 5 Cincinnati, which could pass TCU if it wins at No. 9 Pittsburgh in 2 weeks.

Barring a bunch of upsets, the secondary question is whether No. 6 Boise State and TCU can both get into a BCS bowl, instead of say No. 13 Penn State. Or is that No. 11 Iowa?
