Wallace leads Temple women

Shaqwedia Wallace was one of four players to finish with double figures as Temple defeated Eastern Michigan, 64-46, in women's basketball at the Liacouras Center yesterday.

Wallace finished with a team-high 14 points for Temple (5-0), which is off to its best start in 4 years. Kristen McCarthy added 12 points and Marli Bennett and Jasmine Stone had 11 apiece. The Owls led by as much as 15 en route to their win over the previously undefeated Eagles (4-1), who were led by Cassie Schrock's 15 points, nine rebounds.

Temple travels to Hartford on Saturday. Game time is 2 p.m.

In another game:

* At Saint Joseph's, Hannah Tuomi had 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead No. 16 Vanderbilt (4-0) to a 59-46 win over the Hawks.

Ashley Logue scored 12 points for the Hawks (1-3), who outrebounded Vanderbilt 44-40. But, the Commodores limited Saint Joseph's to just 19-percent shooting from the field.

The Hawks will play at Florida International, which is hosting its own tournament, on Friday at 5 p.m.
