November 25, 2009|Daily News Staff Report

Penn senior linebacker Jake Lewko was named Ivy League co-Player of the Year and five other members of the Quakers football team were picked for all-league honors, the league office announced yesterday.

Lewko, from Shawnee High in Medford, N.J., shares the award with Brown senior wide receiver/return man Buddy Farnham. Lewko is the first Quaker to earn Player of the Year since quarterback Mike Mitchell in 2003. He is the first Penn defensive player picked since linebacker Pat Goodwillie in 1994.

Lewko led the No. 1-ranked defense in the FCS with 76 tackles. He had two sacks, two fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and a blocked kick.

Joining Lewko on the first team from Penn are junior offensive lineman Joseph D'Orazio, senior defensive lineman Joe Goniprow, senior defensive backs Chris Wynn and Jonathan Moore and junior kicker Andrew Samson.

Wynn is the first Penn player since wideout Miles Macik (1993-95) to earn first-team All-Ivy honors in 3 straight years.

Penn coach Al Bagnoli and Villanova coach Andy Talley were named to the 20-man final ballot for The Sports Network's Eddie Robinson Award, given to the top FCS coach. Talley won the award in 1997.

The winner will be announced Dec. 17. *
