Montgomery County authorities are looking for an 18-year-old who they believe shot and killed another teenager and injured a second person in Norristown last month.

The D.A.'s office and Norristown police yesterday announced the filing of an arrest warrant for Nicholas Wiley, of Brown Street near Arch, in Norristown, on murder and related charges. He is accused of fatally shooting Kyrie Swittenburg, 17, and wounding another male youth about 11:45 p.m. Dec. 26.

Authorities contend that Wiley intended to shoot a different juvenile, whom they did not identify, but instead missed and hit Swittenburg in the torso and shot the other juvenile in the leg.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, a fight broke out at a party at Brothers Cafe, on Marshall Street near George, between members of two rival youth gangs - Bang Bang, also known as the Chain Gang, and LC, or Lafayette and Chain.

According to witnesses, the fight continued outside on Blackberry Alley near George after partyers were ejected from the cafe, the affidavit said. More than 30 - and as many as 70 - people congregated at the fight scene.

The juvenile who was allegedly Wiley's target told detectives that his brother and Swittenburg, who was their friend, had argued with people inside the cafe. He said that after the argument spilled outside, he took off his shirt to participate in the fight when "a black male fired three or more shots," according to the affidavit.

Numerous witnesses identified Wiley as the shooter. Wiley told county detectives on Dec. 30 that he had gone to the party and had seen the fight between the two groups, but denied being the shooter.

Authorities obtained an arrest warrant for Wiley on Saturday and believe he has fled the Norristown area.

Anyone with information about Wiley's whereabouts are asked to call Norristown police at 610-270-0977 or the Montgomery County Detective Bureau at 610-278- 3368.
