Snow plays havoc with area sports schedules

A winter blast knocked out a number of local sports events, forcing postponement of the WWE event at the Wachovia Center last night and cancellation of horse racing at Philadelphia Park today and pushing back St. Joseph's basketball game to tomorrow.

The snowstorm caused many college and pro events to be rescheduled.

The St. Joseph's-St. Bonaventure men's basketball game, originally scheduled for today, has been rescheduled for 1 p.m. tomorrow at Hagan Arena.

The Delaware men's basketball game against North Carolina-Wilmington at the Bob Carpenter Center has been moved to noon tomorrow. The game will not be televised by the Comcast Network. The Delaware women's home game against George Mason was rescheduled for tomorrow and will start 45 minutes after the conclusion of the men's game.

Regionally, many of today's horse-racing cards were canceled, including Philadelphia Park, Charles Town, Laurel Park, and Penn National.

Today's scheduled National Lacrosse League game between the Wings and Orlando Titans at the Wachovia Center was postponed and will be rescheduled for April.

Tonight's Kixx-Milwaukee Wave Major Indoor Soccer League game at the Liacouras Center has been canceled. Tickets can be exchanged for any other game.

Last night's WWE's Raw Live event at the Wachovia Center was moved to Thursday at 8 p.m. All tickets will be honored. Fans who cannot attend on the rescheduled date should go to their point of purchase for refunds.

The Philadelphia University men's and women's basketball games originally scheduled for tonight at Caldwell College in New Jersey have been pushed back to tomorrow. The women will play at noon, the men at 2 p.m.

The Rutgers-Camden men's and women's road basketball games scheduled at Richard Stockton College have been postponed until Monday, Feb. 15, at Stockton. The men's game will be at 6 p.m., and the women will play at 8 p.m.

West Chester's PSAC East men's and women's basketball doubleheader against Millersville has been moved to tomorrow. Tip-off for the women's game is 1 p.m., with the men's game to follow. The Hall of Fame festivities have been canceled. The Hall of Fame banquet is still on.

The PSAC East basketball doubleheader between Cheyney and Bloomsburg has been postponed until tomorrow. The women will play at noon, the men at 2.

Today's Centennial Conference basketball doubleheader at Gettysburg has been switched to tomorrow, with the women's game at noon, followed by the men's game.

The Temple women's gymnastics Liberty Classic Invitational has been postponed until tomorrow and will be held at McGonigle Hall, starting at 1 p.m.

Lincoln University and St. Paul's College have postponed today's men's and women's basketball games at Brunswick High School in Lawrenceville, Va. The games will be made up Feb. 19 at Lincoln's Manuel Rivero Hall. On Feb. 18, Lincoln hosts St. Paul's, playing at Lincoln on consecutive days.

The Ursinus College wrestling team's Centennial duals with Washington & Lee and McDaniel at Muhlenberg College have been postponed.

Widener's basketball doubleheader against Lebanon Valley has been postponed until tomorrow, with the women playing at 1 p.m. and the men at 3.

The Rowan men's and women's basketball games scheduled today at Kean have been moved to Feb. 15, at 6 and 8 p.m., respectively.
