Posted: February 22, 2010

A shooting early yesterday outside a North Philadelphia bar left one man dead and sent three people to a hospital with gunshot wounds.

Tyreese Pierce, 33, was shot in the chest and a leg during a 12:30 a.m. fight at the Black Diamond Bar at 3017 Germantown Ave.. Pierce died at Temple University Hospital.

Two others, a 21-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman, were hospitalized at the same facility in critical but stable condition after each was shot in the groin. A fourth victim, a 31-year-old man shot in the thigh, was treated at Temple Hospital and released.

Police believe the shooting started after a man inserted himself into a fight between women outside the bar, said Lt. Frank Vanore, a police spokesman. After the man punched one woman, he then pulled a gun and started firing, Vanore said.

Police had made no arrests and could not provide a description of a suspect last night.
