Buddy Ryan's boy is coming to Philadelphia.

The Eagles will host coach Rex Ryan and the New York Jets in their preseason finale Sept. 2.

The NFL released its preseason schedule Wednesday, and the Eagles' slate includes a nationally televised game at Cincinnati on Aug. 20 and their nearly annual game against the Jets. The two teams have met 25 times over the last 25 years, playing twice in 1992 and skipping 2000.

The Eagles will host Jacksonville to open the preseason on Aug. 12, 13 or 14. Then they will visit the Bengals for an 8 p.m. Fox broadcast. They will follow up with a trip to Kansas City to face the Chiefs on Aug. 26, 27, 28 or 29. They will cap the preseason against the Jets at Lincoln Financial Field.

Exact dates and times for all games will be released later. The regular-season schedule will be released later this month, sometime before the draft.

Gaither signs

Linebacker Omar Gaither signed his tender Wednesday, becoming the latest Eagles restricted free agent to agree to a one-year contract.

Gaither received an offer at his fifth-round draft level and will earn $1.176 million in base salary. Cornerback Ellis Hobbs and linebacker Chris Gocong signed their tenders Tuesday. Linebacker Akeem Jordan signed his last week.

Guards Nick Cole (second-round tender) and Max Jean-Gilles (fourth round) and punter Sav Rocca (right of first refusal) have yet to sign their offers. They have until April 15.

Gaither started last season at middle linebacker, filling in after Stewart Bradley injured his knee during training camp. He suffered a Lisfranc sprain in his right foot in late October and was done for the season.

Eagles coach Andy Reid said last week that Gaither was recovering nicely and that he would compete with Jordan for the starting weak-side linebacker spot and help back up Bradley in the middle.

Gocong going?

The Cleveland Browns have had "preliminary discussions" with the Eagles about a possible trade for Gocong, according to the National Football Post. Gocong lost his starting spot at strong-side linebacker to rookie Moise Fokou last season.

The Eagles had no comment.
