‘Zombie dance mob’ planned for Rittenhouse Square

Posted: June 18, 2010

Zombies will dance in Rittenhouse Square next week to mark the one year anniversary of the death of Michael Jackson. Jackson died of cardiac arrest June 25, 2009.

Organizers hope hundreds of participants will show up in the park Saturday June 26 at noon to recreate the King of Pop's dance routine from the music video "Thriller."

The event, called "Thrilladelphia," aims to raise money for Alzheimer's Association, said spokeswoman Christine Barris. Dancers and spectators will be asked for a small donation.

Dance instructor Darin Barron will lead a rehearsal in the park at 1 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, June 19, at the corner of 18th and Walnut Streets.

Both the rehearsal and the Thrilladelphia event are free and open to the public.

Participating dancers are asked to RSVP to thrilladelphiazombies@gmail.com.
