Collision kills dirt-bike rider

Dean Nunez, 18, died early yesterday after he went joyriding on a dirt bike, ran a red light and collided with a car in Bridesburg, police said.

Nunez, of Cheltenham Avenue near Oakland Street, died at 1:47 a.m. at Aria Health's Torresdale campus, about a half-hour after the crash at Tacony and Bridge streets, police said.

Nunez was driving his Kawasaki bike west on Bridge when he ignored a red light and collided with a 2009 Ford Focus headed south on Tacony, police said. The Ford's 21-year-old driver was uninjured.

NE man shot Tuesday dies

A 28-year-old Northeast Philadelphia man who was shot early Tuesday morning in Southwest Philadelphia has died of his wounds, police said yesterday.

Michael Toll was shot at about 1:50 a.m. Tuesday at 54th and Florence Streets, cops said. He was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he died Thursday at 11:46 a.m., according to police.

Women stabbed in the head

A 28-year-old woman was stabbed by another woman inside a home in Kensington about 9 last night, police said. The unidentified victim was stabbed once in the front right side of her forehead, police said.

She was taken to Temple University Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition, police said.

Home-invasion victim healing

A city man is recovering after two armed men shot him during a home invasion in Juniata Park early yesterday.

The incident occurred at 12:44 a.m., when the gunmen broke into a home on Neilson Street near Hunting Park Avenue and demanded money from the two male occupants. A 24-year-old victim pushed one thug, prompting the other to shoot him in the shoulder, police said. The victim was in stable condition at Temple University Hospital yesterday. The robbers escaped with $80 and a laptop computer, police said

Cops: Dad was driving stoned

A 23-year-old Philadelphia man was arrested Thursday night in Bucks County after a patrol officer found the man was high while driving with his 2-year-old daughter in the car.

Investigators said Daniel Lopez, of Northeast Philadelphia, was high on marijuana laced with PCP when a patrol officer spotted his car stopped in the middle of the road on Route 1 in Bensalem.

2 rob Bryn Mawr Starbucks

Police are searching for two men accused of subduing two coffee-shop employees with stun guns while robbing a Starbucks in Bryn Mawr yesterday.

Authorities said two masked men ambushed the employees as they were about to open the Starbucks about 5:15 a.m. and took off with about $800. They dropped a large number of coins as they fled.

Table-game gambler arrested

Delaware gambling enforcement officials made their first arrest Thursday related to the introduction of table games in Delaware.

Officials say Maurice Thomas, 25, of Philadelphia, was arrested and charged with cheating in a blackjack game at Delaware Park. Thomas is accused of placing a late bet, also known as capping a bet, on four occasions.
