Cop stabbed after breaking up fight

An off-duty Philadelphia police officer was stabbed in the back after a breaking up a fight early Sunday morning at Scooters Bar in the 3800 block of Powelton Avenue in West Philadelphia, police said.

Lt. Jonathan Josey, of the highway patrol unit, was in stable condition Sunday afternoon at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Police said two woman began arguing with at least one off-duty officer they recognized from previous contacts. After intervening in the argument, Josey walked away from the bar with another off-duty officer.

Markea Golphin, 36, of Southwest Philadelphia, the rushed after Josey and stabbed him in the back. A second woman, Aiesha Palmer, 37, of West Philadelphia, was caught trying to put the knife down a sewer. It was recovered.

Both were charged with attempted murder and related offenses.
