Phila.’s July manufacturing index down

Posted: July 15, 2010

Manufacturing activity in the Philadelphia region fell in July for the second consecutive month as the national economy stumbles through a soft patch, according to a monthly survey from the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. (Access the survey here.)

The 5.1 index reading indicated that the manufacturing sector was still growing, but very slowly. A zero is flat growth; a negative reading indicates a contraction.    - Bob Fernandez
