ALLENTOWN - Indianapolis catcher Erik Kratz might have had the best night of any player in the triple-A All-Star Game at Coca-Cola Park.

Kratz was told during the fourth inning Wednesday night that he would be joining the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday in Houston to start the second half of the season.

It's the first call-up for the 30-year-old Kratz, who grew up in Telford and graduated from Christopher Dock High. He celebrated with 20 family members, including his parents, wife and children.

"You couldn't have had a better setting than this to get this news," said Kratz, who got the word from his manager, Frank Klemblas, who was serving as a coach for the International League. His team beat the Pacific Coast League stars, 2-1, in front of a sellout crowd of 10,000.

The International League was hitless until hometown hero Andy Tracy of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs led off with a single in the fifth against Brandon Dickson of the Memphis Redbirds.

Eastern League All-Star Game

HARRISBURG - Drew Naylor of the Reading Phillies was hammered for six runs in the seventh inning as the West beat the East, 10-3.

Matthew Rizzotti of Reading had a single in his only at-bat. Kyle Drabek, a former Reading Phillie now with New Hampshire, started for the East and didn't allow a run in his one inning of work.

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - Anthony Hewitt's two-run double triggered a six-run seventh as the BlueClaws beat the Indians in the South Atlantic League.
