Dan Gross: 'Munster' Butch's local fang fan

July 22, 2010|By Dan Gross

BUTCH PATRICK routinely hears from fans who've had a crush on him since the '60s, when he played Eddie Munster on "The Munsters."

"But not from a lot of cheerleaders," Patrick said, with a chuckle.

The actor just moved near West Chester to be with former Eagles cheerleader Donna McCall, who was a young "Munsters" fan with whom he corresponded in 1964. McCall, a retired hospital pharmacist, e-mailed Patrick a few years ago to say that something had triggered her memory of him. Patrick, who lived in Florida and Los Angeles, kept in touch with McCall, and the pair met in May at a vampire convention near Pittsburgh.

It was love at first bite, er, sight.

Patrick, who says he's always embraced the character of Eddie Munster but has done more acting, too, has just booked with 13Haunts.com to appear at the company's Halloween-themed fright events in the area throughout September and October.

Patrick also maintains a presence on TheMunsters.com.

McCall was known as Donna Auerbach while an Eagles cheerleader from 1976 to 1979.

Kournikova gets lippy with judge

Tennis hottie Anna Kournikova threw a fit when a judge warned her for saying "Jesus Christ!" Tuesday night, while she played for the St. Louis Aces, against the Philadelphia Freedoms, during World Team Tennis play at the Pavilion at Villanova.

"You can't say 'Jesus Christ'? " Kournikova shot back. "That's a rule? Get the rule book, look it up! Jesus Christ!" she continued, confirms Comcast-Spectacor spokesman Ike Richman.

Bell on the Onion

Brandy Bell, the former CBS 3 reporter who later anchored videos on Philly.com, is now making news-parody videos on TheOnion.com, the online home of the popular humor paper that calls itself "America's Finest News Source." Bell plays tabloid reporter Alex Blair in a video called "Jennifer Aniston Adopts 33-Year-Old Boyfriend From Africa," and will return as the reporter for more videos. The next one, she says, is on Oprah Winfrey.

Philanthropist on the mend

Rudman was carrying a package from his car to his home, tripped and couldn't break his fall as his arms were full.
