The Union has signed Argentinean midfielder Eduardo "Chacho" Coudet. Terms were not disclosed.

Coming from Club Atlético Colón in the Argentinean First Division, Coudet, 35, will be eligible to play when the Union hosts the New England Revolution on July 31.

The Union is off this weekend and then the league takes a break for next week's All-Star Game in Houston.

Coudet has played for the Union in international friendlies against FC Celtic and Manchester United.

Coudet hails from Buenos Aires, Argentina and has played in some of the world's most recognizable leagues, including Argentina's First Division (Atlético Platense, '93-95; Rosario Central, '95-98, 2006; San Lorenzo, '98-99, '04-05; River Plate, '99-04 and Club Atlético Colón, '10), the Spanish First Division La Liga (Celta de Vigo, '02), and the Mexican First Division (San Luis, '07-.'09; Necaxa, '09).

Convey to All-Star team

San Jose midfielder Bobby Convey was named an All-Star to replace Chivas USA defender Jonathan Bornstein for next week's game in Houston.

Bornstein suffered a knee injury this week.

Convey has appeared in all 14 of the Earthquakes' matches in 2010 and recorded assists on eight of the team's 18 total goals this season. This is Convey's third career All-Star selection (2001, 2004).

Bornstein suffered a right knee injury on Sunday, July 18 in the 23rd minute of Chivas USA's SuperLiga match against the Houston Dynamo. He is expected to miss 2-3 weeks.
