Eagles' supporters generally optimistic about quarterback Kolb's chances

July 23, 2010

I am very optimistic. He has sat on the bench, knows what to do and has done very well when he played. Even in the Baltimore game, he led the team down the field to score before he threw the interception.

- Dean Harner, Mount Holly

The pure joy I plan on feeling that first Sunday, that first offensive possession, that first throw leading a WR, will have only been matched by the birth of my children and the taste of a freshly made soft pretzel. No more will I have to bear witness to hundreds and thousands of worms being murdered on the turf of Lincoln Financial Field and those other fields around the league. I don't care if Kobb fires a bullet into the waiting arms of a defensive back for a touchdown, as long as the worms can live a peaceful life and not be subjected to the continual slaughter by our previous tenant at the position, I can live in peace and sleep at night like a child on a rainy morn.

- Andy Waskie, Langhorne

I am optimistic. I believe he has the tools to be a "pocket QB" like Andy Reid envisioned with Donovan McNabb. He has a strong arm and demonstrated the knowledge to run this offense.

- Anthony DiTrolio,

Cherry Hill

I feel cautiously optimistic about Kevin Kolb as a quarterback ... I'm not sure he'll come out and put up Aaron Rodgers numbers and when I look at the schedule the Eagles are facing this year, I can't help but temper my expectations . . . I do think Kolb will be a franchise quarterback who will experience some of the roadblocks that most first-year quarterbacks do, but it is kind of fair to expect him to play moderately well after being groomed for 3 years. He will show flashes of good and bad but it's reasonable to expect more of the former than the latter. The pressure is on, in some respects.

- Travis Newman,

Philadelphia

I will wait and see about Kevin Kolb as a starting quarterback. There have been a lot people who had a good year and they were complete washouts. Two good games not do not make a person a good quarterback; it takes a couple of years of performance.

- Wayne M. Jorden

Willingboro, N.J.

I'm very optimistic. He will hit the receivers in stride, is a team player, will show passion on the field showing that he really cares about winning for the city.

- Vicente Duvivier,

Philadelphia
