The media are abuzz, aflutter, atwitter with news that President Obama will appear on ABC's The View on Thursday, becoming the first sitting president ever to be on a daytime talk show. (Despite widespread rumors, George Washington did not do Oprah.) It's such a super-special event, the Wednesday taping will also feature cohost and exec producer Barbara Walters, who has been on leave following heart surgery in May.

What should fans expect? Will the Democrat have a Presidential Smackdown (WWE rules) with The View's conservative political pundit, Elisabeth Hasselbeck? Will he sic liberal cohost Joy Behar on her? Will he share some of first lady Michelle Obama's fave recipes?

ABC reps say Obama will discuss jobs, the economy, the BP oil spill, and family life chez Les Obamas.

Why a gabfest? White House spokesman Dan Pfeiffer says that, given our "hyperactive media environment," the prez wants to reach more folks in nontraditional venues.

Whoa! Angelina Jolie has had lovers . . .

So says Andrew Morton in his tell-all, Angelina Jolie: An Unauthorized Biography, due Aug. 3. USAToday.com has listed some of the tome's juicy revelations (assertions):

Angie's mom, Marcheline Bertrand, left her to be raised by nannies and rarely set eyes on her during her first year. See, Angie's face reminded her of her husband, Jon Voight, who had cheated on her.

Angie lost her virginity at 14 to some dude named Anton. Morton also claims the Salt star was still canoodling with her lesbian lover, Jenny Shimizu, when she wed her first hubby, Jonny Lee Miller.

No new friends for LiLo?

Always try to be likable when you're new at school, my mom used to say.

Even if that school is a California jail.

It's a lesson Lindsay Lohan needs to learn, says People in an intriguing report headlined, "Jail Source: The Inmates Are Sick of Lindsay Lohan."

Insiders tell the mag that LiLo's fellow inmates think she gets special treatment.

"She's not treated like if it was anyone else going to jail," Maria Medina, a relative of an inmate at Lohan's jail, the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, Calif., tells People. "Like, if they even want to bring her new clothes or bring her anything, they put the whole facility on lockdown. It happens all the time."

Medina concludes (ruefully? joyfully?), "All the inmates are sick of Lindsay."

LiLo's lawyer disputes the allegations. "She has made some friends," Shawn Chapman Holley tells UsMagazine.com.

Thief: LiLo cried a lot

Famed Hollywood burglar and wannabe star Alexis Neiers, who was in LiLo's cell block, tells E! Entertainment that LiLo further inflamed fellow inmates with her constant weeping, which, Alexis says, is "the last thing you want to hear, when you're just trying to be strong and get through the day."

Droppings with your rock-and-roll

A gang of mean-tempered, hateful, vile pigeons viciously attacked members of Kings of Leon - with their droppings - during a show Friday at the Verizon Amphitheatre in St. Louis, Mo., forcing the Nashville rockers to end the concert. CNN says the venue's rafters are infested with the pesky birds. Bassist Jared Followill "was hit several times during the first two songs," band rep Andy Mendelsohn said. "It's not only disgusting - it's a toxic health hazard."

Daniel Craig, who helped transform the James Bond movie franchise from a silly joke to real drama, has signed to star in the American production of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, an adaptation of the first novel in Stieg Larsson's hit trilogy.

Law & Order mastermind Dick Wolf, who recently axed the franchise's original show, has signed to write two novels, both thrillers, HarperCollins imprint William Morrow announced Monday. The first will be about the Sept. 11 attacks in New York. A release date has yet to be set.

Godfather dude Al Pacino's production of The Merchant of Venice is moving from Central Park to Broadway. The Public Theater on Monday said Merchant, featuring Pacino as Shylock, will move to the Broadhurst Theatre in October after an eight-week run in the park.

Spanish helmer Pedro Almodóvar's best-known flick, 1988's Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, is being adapted as a stage musical, with book by Jeffrey Lane, music and lyrics by David Yazbek, Lincoln Center Theater in New York announced. Tidbits 'n' pieces

Is it conceivable for anyone not to like Brad Pitt? Even Tina Fey admits she's under the Bradster's spell. "I'm pretty sure we're going to meet at some point," the 30 Rock funnychick tells People. "I've sent him over 100 letters saying that I'm pretty sure we're going to meet. And 100 chunks of my hair. If that's not a great gift, then one of us is crazy." . . . The DeKalb County Sheriff's Department in northeast Indiana says a drug-sniffing dog found marijuana on one of Bret Michaels' tour buses on Wednesday. No arrests were made and the case is being forwarded to prosecutors for review. . . . The latest word in the Mel Gibson-Oksana Grigorieva disaster is that the former lovers, locked in a bloodcurdlingly bitter custody feud over 9-month-old daughter Lucia, will be ordered to take parenting classes together. We imagine the teacher will advise that hitting babies - or their mommies - isn't nice.

Lawsuit against Casey Affleck

Casey Affleck, who murdered Brad Pitt in cold blood in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, is being sued for sexual harassment, says the Hollywood Reporter. Amanda White, who produced Affleck's documentary about his brother-in-law, I'm Still Here: The Lost Year of Joaquin Phoenix, alleges that she was subjected to "uninvited and unwelcome sexual advances in the workplace" while working on the flick.

Affleck lawyer Michael Plonsker says "the complaint will be vigorously defended and cross-claims will be filed against her."
