A U.S. Airways pilot accused of using his cell phone to take pictures up the skirt of a 15-year-old girl pleaded guilty Tuesday to a single charge of invasion of privacy.
Authorities allege that Joseph Pereira, 55, was caught shooting the "up skirt" photos on June 24 in Terminal C of Philadelphia International Airport. After the incident, Pereira, from Allegheny County, was grounded by the airline. He remains on indefinite suspension without pay, U.S. Airways spokesman Morgan Durrant said.
Pereira was sentenced to one year of probation and must undergo an evaluation for sex-offender treatment. He also is forbidden to own pornography and police will monitor his computer. He also was ordered to pay $2,200 in restitution to the victim, said Tasha Jamerson, a spokeswoman for the District Attorney's Office. - Sam Wood
