Tattle: Chris Tucker into IRS for $11M, E! reports

July 29, 2010|By Howard Gensler
  • All SMILES AT a news conference for the Lilith Fair at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden yesterday are (from left): Butterfly Boucher, Emily Robison, Sarah McLachlan, Martie Maguire, Jill Hennessy, and Anjulie. The music festival, founded by McLaclan in 1997, is enjoying a revival this year.

WHILE TATTLE works to straighten out the $300 in back taxes we owe the City of Philadelphia, we're happy to report that we're not Chris Tucker.

According to E! Online, Tucker owes more than $11 million in back taxes to the Internal Revenue Service. Can you say "Rush Hour 4?" What about "5," "6" and "7."

And if Jackie Chan doesn't want to do it, Tucker will play his part, too. Since 1998, all Tucker has made is "Rush Hour" films and he's been paid more than $50 million for the privilege. Unfortunately, when you make that kind of money, the Feds want your autograph . . . on a very big check. E! says that federal tax lien documents filed with the L.A. County Recorder's Office Tuesday, show that Tucker, 37, owes $4,007,794.34 for 2001; $5,060,074.23 for 2002; $55,544.84 for 2004 (that was a down year); $660,414.94 for 2005 and $1,788,080.91 for 2006. Grand total? $11,571,909.26.

Story continues below.

Tucker's rep was unavailable for comment when E! called because he was probably running to the bank to make sure he was still getting paid.

Looking to return to work - he has auditors and accountants to feed - Tucker may reunite with "Rush Hour" director Brett Ratner for "Mr. S, My Life With Frank Sinatra," a film set in the '60s about Sinatra's relationship with his valet.

We're guessing Tucker isn't playing Sinatra.

* The run is over for the South Philly Vikings. The prize-winning Mummer Fancy Brigade was ousted last night from "America's Got Talent," failing to make the top 24. The brigade's dance performance in robot costumes did not transform them into semifinalists. In their subgroup, which also featured 11-year-old rapper CJ Dippa and dancer Haspop, only Haspop advanced.
