A Bristol Township man was charged Wednesday with fraudulently collecting workers' compensation benefits while working as a contractor, state prosecutors said.
William Thomson, 35, of Newport Road, is accused of collecting more than $68,500 in benefits after saying a 2008 back injury prevented him from working, according to the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office.
In the meantime, prosecutors said, he was advertising and doing work under the name Ceiling & Basement Repairs. Prosecutors allege that Thomson performed home-improvement work as well as snow removal and landscaping. He also is charged with stealing $3,000 from a man who hired him to install a patio roof.
