Whew, that's a relief.
The daily ritual of asking Jackson to answer a question or two was supposed to start on July 29, but he unexpectedly arrived at Lehigh before the media horde had assembled.
When he was spotted by the media later that day exiting the dorms, Jackson darted to his Porsche and said to awaiting reporters, "I'm not talking," and sped away.
The next day after practice he ran off the field, football in hand.
"A question, young man?" he was asked.
"No, sir. Not today," Jackson responded.
On the third day - July 31 - Jackson had to be carted from the field after he strained his lower back.
Despite the injury, he was able to outrace an out-of-shape reporter, get into his car and take off - without comment.
Jackson's injury forced him indoors but also allowed the 24-year-old to escape the daily deluge of probing for several days.
He returned Friday and opted for a new approach to interview requests - the shake of the head. Jackson adopted this technique until Monday afternoon when he finally relented to two reporters.
Eureka!
It was understood that Jackson had grown tired of questions related to his contract situation. Eagles coach Andy Reid said as much more than a week ago when he was asked to explain his receiver's reasoning for not talking.
Asked if that were the case, Jackson responded, "That's what I got an agent for."
Told by a reporter that his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, never returns calls, Jackson laughed.
A message left with Rosenhaus, by the way, was not returned Monday.
"I'm working hard," Jackson said. "I'm just trying to win a Super Bowl - nothing else."
That seems to be all fans really want to hear - nothing else.
