The former home of horticulturist Henry Francis du Pont in Winterthur, Del., features antique collections, sprawling gardens, and a slew of kid-oriented activities.

Terrific Tuesdays in August (the last two are on Aug. 24 and 31) will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and feature crafts, games, and storytelling.

At next week's program, "Soup's On," kids can learn about the home's soup tureen collection, create crafts related to the collection, and listen to the classic children's story "Stone Soup."

Story continues below.

Winterthur offers guided family tours of the home at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. daily. Families can explore the three-acre Enchanted Woods and the Touch It room, which features hands-on exhibits of an 18th-century parlor, an 1830s general store, and a traditional hearth.
