A Lancaster County driver died in a two-vehicle accident early Monday morning, state police said today.

Jeffery Edgar Whiteside, 47, of Little Britain Township, was traveling northwest at 12:04 a.m. on Freemont Road, north of Lees Bridge Road, in West Nottingham Township, when he attempted to pass another vehicle traveling in the same direction, police said.

Whiteside's Chevrolet Tahoe made slight contact with the other vehicle, causing Whiteside to lose control, police said. Witnesses said Whiteside's vehicle went airborne, flipping several times before landing on its roof, according to police.

Whiteside, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected and pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The other driver was not injured, police said.
