1. North Penn (3) 13-1
The Knights, quick and strong, are rightfully being talked about as a state-championship contender.
2. Ridley (2) 13-2
Speedy playmakers abound, with Sam Dixon-Dugan, Shahaid Smith, Jalen Randolph, and Dion Shaw leading the way.
3. La Salle (1) 14-1
Stiff challenges against North Penn, Bergen Catholic (N.J.), and West Catholic toughen the defending state champs.
4. Downingtown East (5) 10-3
The Cougars return 1,900-yard rusher Drew Harris, strong-armed quarterback Trey Lauletta, and Rutgers-bound tight end Tyler Kroft.
5. Archbishop Wood (4) 11-3
The Vikings, with a boatload of starters back on both sides, have all the pieces for another run at the Class AAA crown.
6. Pottsgrove (6) 14-1
Rick Pennypacker's squad has been building toward this season. The high-scoring Falcons (33.1 ppg.) aren't just loaded at the skill positions. They return four starters on the offensive line.
7. Neshaminy (NR) 9-3
Opponents will struggle to beat the Redskins on the ground. Ryan Katona, Kiser Terry, and Shane Quinn lead the charge up front.
8. Cardinal O'Hara (NR) 8-3
With bruising fullback-linebacker Brendan McLaughlin joining an already solid mix, Wood's reign is anything but safe.
9. West Catholic (9) 12-3
Several ex-North Catholic standouts, including QB Anthony Reid, give the Burrs a solid shot at Class AA glory.
10. Malvern Prep (NR) 7-4
The Friars' defense, experienced and rugged, is headed by linemen Sean Mooney, Bob Scaramuzza, and Connor Mahoney.
Under consideration (listed alphabetically): Conestoga (7-4), George Washington (8-3), Interboro (12-1), Pennsbury (9-2), St. Joseph's Prep (9-3).
