Field Hockey Players to Watch

Lauren Becker, Wissahickon. The Trojans junior has started since her freshman year. Last season, the midfielder had 12 goals and 16 assists as Wissahickon went 20-2.

Julia Boyle, Episcopal. Boyle's goalkeeping last season was instrumental in the Churchmen's 14-5-1 record. She's headed to Princeton.

Sarah Hospodar, Merion Mercy. Hospodar was named an all-American last season. The senior midfielder/back will play for Boston College next season.

Katie Gerzabek, Notre Dame. The senior midfielder has helped lead the Irish to three straight Inter-Ac League championships. She will play next year for Maryland.

Kelsey LeBlanc, Haverford. The Virginia-bound LeBlanc plays a high midfield spot for the Fords. She led the team in goals with 11 last season.

Maddie Harding, Central Bucks South. The senior midfielder was one of the keys to the Titans' reaching the PIAA Class AAA semifinals before they lost to Hershey in overtime last season.

Caitlin Walsh, Downingtown West. Walsh is a senior midfielder who recorded at least a goal or an assist in every game last season. She's looking at Old Dominion and Providence.

Leah High, Upper Perkiomen. With Cassidy Arner out with a torn anterior cruciate ligament until later this month, the Indians will rely heavily on this senior midfielder.

Samantha Ostoich, Villa Maria. A senior, Ostoich is one of the key returning Hurricanes. She was a leader last season as Villa finished 22-2 and reached the semifinals of the PIAA Class AA playoffs.

Heather Morris, Hill School. Morris made people sit up and take notice last season as a freshman forward. Coach Meg Watson said her speed makes her "scary" to opponents.

Helene Caniglia, Radnor. The senior center midfielder was a key reason that the Red Raiders made the PIAA Class AAA playoffs last year for the first time since 1997.
