Police ID 2 Phila. slaying victims

A man shot 10 times and killed Wednesday night outside a North Philadelphia bar was identified today as a resident of the neighborhood.

Police said David Jones, 35, of the 1200 block of West Huntingdon Street, died at 10:04 p.m. after being rushed to Temple University Hospital in a private vehicle.

He had been shot in the back, chest and arms about 9:30 p.m. outside a bar called L's Comfort Zone on the 2400 block of Germantown Avenue.

Investigators have not disclosed if they have established a possible motive, but were seeking a man who fled the scene wearing an orange hat.

A motive also is unknown in the shooting death earlier Wednesday of a man on the 5100 block of Thompson Street in West Philadelphia's Parkside Section.

The police today identified the victim as Donnell Sloan, 30, of the 2100 block of Homer Street in West Oak Lane.

Sloan, who had been shot in the back and chest, was pronounced dead at 12:20 a.m. at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
