(Note to all you tokers out there: The herb has a rather noticeable aroma.)
The couple was released from jail ("Oh, T.I., you take me to all the best places") at about 4 a.m. yesterday after posting $10,000 bail each, sheriff's Deputy Luis Castro said.
The arrest could spell big trouble for T.I. as he is on probation for the weapons charges, and could get sent back to prison because of the arrest. As part of his get-out-of-jail-free card, he had been ordered not to commit another crime while on supervised release, and was also ordered not to illegally possess a controlled substance.
Now T.I.'s probation officer has asked him to return home to Atlanta, said Don Samuel, one of his attorneys. He said it was unclear when T.I. would do so.
Tattle thinks it might be a good idea.
Another defense attorney, Ed Garland, said T.I. will have an opportunity to present his side of the story at a hearing, which could be scheduled within weeks.
Since his release from the pokey, T.I. has vowed to live a better life and has spoken to children about the dangers of drugs and guns.
Ah, another case of "Do as a I say, not as I do."
One of his supporters, former United Nations Ambassador Andrew Young, was skeptical about the charges against the rapper and the circumstances of the arrest as the couple were pulled over in a luxury automobile.
"I assume that you're innocent until you're proven guilty," Young told the Associated Press. "If he was driving and smoking marijuana, that is absolutely stupid. But why was he pulled over in the first place? Because he had a Maybach? Because he was black? Because they know who he is and resent his success?"
Or maybe, as MTV.com reported, because he made an illegal U-turn on Sunset Boulevard. Maybe, just maybe, that could be the reason.
And when officers approached the Maybach they got a contact high.
