THERE WASN'T much Daniel Granger couldn't do around the house. Most recently he installed an overhead fan in the kitchen. He was also an electrician, plumber, sheet rock installer, and, oh yes, a landscaper.

In other words, he kept his home in Wynnefield in good repair, and also didn't hesitate to lend his talents to family members and neighbors.

"He would do anything for anybody," said his son, Anthony Granger. "He would give you his last dollar."

Daniel also enjoyed singing with a local group, the Soul Dynamics. He was the lead singer for several years.

Daniel Eugene Granger Sr., a 30-year employee of the old Budd Co., where he was active in the United Auto Workers Union, died Sunday of complications of a stroke. He was 55.

Story continues below.

He was born in Philadelphia to Hettie and John Granger. He attended Overbrook High School, and got his diploma through the Opportunities Industrialization Center. He started at Budd while still a teenager. The Philadelphia plant closed in 2002.

He married the former Rosetta Reyes on April 24, 1971.

As a singer, his sons said he once did a remake of the popular song, "My Girl."

"It was better than the Temptations,' " said his son.

Daniel was a devoted family man who used to take his sons to Fairmount Park for a catch. He was a big fan of local sports teams.

He enjoyed crabbing along the Jersey shore.

"He was a well-known easygoing guy," his son said.

Besides his wife and son, he is survived by another son, Daniel Eugene Granger Jr.; a daughter, Jeanine Granger; a brother, Vernon Black, and five grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. tomorrow at Ezekial Baptist Church, 5701 Grays Ave. Friends may call at 9 a.m. Burial will be in West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd.
