Pa. football roundup: Reid sparks Harriton victory over Aces

Pat Moriarty opened his varsity career with a bang and Spencer Reid scored twice to spark Harriton to a 28-6 win over host Lower Merion in the season and Central League opener for both teams yesterday.

Reid, son of Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid, scored on runs of 6 and 65 yards to stake the Rams to a 12-0 lead in the opening quarter. Moriarty made it 14-0 when he hit Ryan Kelly with a two-point conversion pass.

Moriarty, a 6-0, 160-pound sophomore, connected with Mike Allen on a 42-yard scoring pass and ran for a two-point conversion to increase Harriton's lead to 22-0 in the second quarter, then hit Kelly with a 15-yard scoring strike in the third quarter for a 28-0 Rams lead.

Public Class AA. Rolando Ransom scored on runs of 10 and 15 yards and Eric Dickerson recorded six sacks to lead Communications Tech to a 12-0 win over High School of the Future at Bartram.

Del-Val Charter 26, Prep Charter 6 - Markeese Walker scored on runs of 86 and 6 yards to lead the visiting Warriors past the Huskies.

Walker's first score in the second quarter gave Del-Val a 12-0 halftime lead. His last touchdown in the fourth quarter extended the Warriors' lead to 26-0.

Bicentennial. Doug Bauer threw for a touchdown and ran for another as Springfield (Montgomery County) beat visiting Jenkintown, 34-13.

Bauer opened the scoring by hitting Tim Quigg with an 11-yard scoring strike. In the second quarter, he scored the Spartans' final touchdown on an 18-yard run.

 

Nonleague

Jaron Turner scored on runs of 80 and 4 yards and led Olney past visiting Martin Luther King, 20-14.

Turner rushed for 78 yards on eight carries.

Overbrook 26, Bensalem 7 - David McCants and Siahnimah Kofa each scored twice to lift the Panthers past the Owls at Gratz.

McCants scored on runs of 70 and 3 yards in the first and third quarters, respectively, while Kofa tallied on runs of 40 and 7 yards in the second and fourth quarters.

Bok 37, Southern 6 - Shaquille Salmons rushed for 164 yards on 16 carries and scored three touchdowns to pace the Wildcats against the Rams at 11th and Bigler.

Roxborough 38, Edison 0 - Dre'Von Williams scored on runs of 18 and 15 yards and Nick Butts scored on a 1-yard keeper and threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Adrian Johnson-Pope to highlight a 28-point second quarter for the host Indians.

Dobbins 39, Lincoln 0 - Terrence Stafford rushed for 204 yards on 14 carries and accounted for three touchdowns to lead the Mustangs past the visiting Railsplitters.
