  • A top 10 photo: Lori Boyle of Bensalem visited Peter the Great's palace near St. Petersburg on July 13, during a 10-day Baltic cruise on Holland America's MS Eurodam with her husband, sister, and brother-in-law. She says the palace was 'spectacular,' but the 100-degree temperature was tough to take.
  • A top 10 photo: Andrew Dunheimer of Downingtown was at the Cimarron Rodeo on July 4, when this bull rider was thrown right out of the gate and charged by the bull as he lay on the ground. After getting assistance, the rider managed to walk out of the arena on his own. Andrew spent the summer in New Mexico, working as a photographer at a Boy Scout ranch.
  • A top 10 photo: Tony D'Amico of Yardley says this shot of the statue of St. Paul with the facade of St. Peter's Basilica in the background is his favorite of the 1,500 photos he took in July on his first trip to Italy. For 16 days, he explored the country from Rome to the Amalfi Coast with his wife, two daughters, and his niece.
  • A top 10 photo: Tinnha Polwitoon, 31/2, waits in a small roadside temple an hour north of Bangkok, while her mother, Moon Krapugthong, buys catfish ice cream at a neighboring market. Moon, who owns the Thai restaurants Chabaa and MangoMoon in Manayunk, spent two weeks in Thailand with her daughter; husband, Pat; and a friend, Judy Spielman of Society Hill, who took this shot. The ice cream 'was yummy; it tasted like coconut,' Judy says.
  • A top 10 photo: Aharoni and Marsha Zisling of Wayne take a break after hiking up the cliffs of Mount Hor for a family photo with Amir, 9 (center), and twins Hanan and Sarah, 13. Marsha says their tour guide, Talat Twaisi, led them off the main trails for views such as this one overlooking Nabatean tombs. They spent three weeks in Israel and three days in Jordan in mid-July.
  • A top 10 photo: Fireworks dazzle a crowd on the beach near Caesars and Trump Plaza casinos on July 2. Edward Spivack of Northfield, N.J., spent the July 4th weekend in Margate City, A.C., and Ocean City by himself, but was joined by thousands of spectators for the holiday fireworks shows.
  • A top 10 photo: Lanny Cheifet of Fort Washington photographed this crown-of-thorns sea star while scuba diving with his wife, Allyne, at a depth of about 60 feet. Although beautiful, the crown-of-thorns is poisonous and destroys coral reefs. The Cheifets, who have been diving for about 35 years and go to different warm-water spots each year, were in the Cook Islands for 16 days in late May and early June.
  • A top 10 photo: Ethan Bevington, 3, enjoys an ice cream cone in the Downtown Disney area. After school let out, Ethan's family drove from Yardley to Orlando in two days. His mother, Abby,who took this photo, says: 'The trip was great, but we're never driving again.'
  • A top 10 photo: A hungry capuchin monkey watches warily from the shores of Monkey Island over Memorial Day weekend. Chris Dymek of the Tacony section of Philadelphia took the photo from a boat on the lake, which is part of the Panama Canal.

Readers traveled the country this summer, from the Jersey Shore to Florida, New England to the Wild West. Others circled the globe, exploring Europe and the Middle East, Southeast Asia and the South Pacific, Central and South America.

And lucky for us, 71 of them submitted photos to share their vacations - and to win $25.
